Meet Amani Ali our Diversity Expert
Dear Friends,
In 2012 I was accepted into Leadership Denver, affectionately known as “LD”. For those who aren’t familiar with the program, it’s sponsored by the Denver Metro Chamber with the intent to actively engage civic leaders into community champions through in-depth experiences. Every year roughly 500 professionals apply and about 65 are accepted for this year-long program. It was one of the most rewarding professional commitments of my career.
One of my favorite individuals I met through LD was Amani Ali. Amani spent his early career in recruiting before embarking on a 25 year career in media. One of the many highlights of his career includes serving on the board for MillerCoors as 1 of 9 Board of Directors. Amani holds a MBA from Regis University, and here is a sampling of his involvement in the Denver community.
Former Board Member - served as Chair of the Governance and Program Committees of the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver
Former President - Colorado Association of Black Journalists
Former Board Member - MillerCoors Brewing Company; IDAC Board
Affiliate Faculty Member-Graduate School of Management, Regis University
Former Deputy Regional Director and State Director - Region V, National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ)
Past President- Colorado Association of Black Journalists (CABJ)
Amani leads our Diversity practice, and we feel fortunate to have him as part of the team. Here are some suggestions on how we can assist with Diversity in your organization:
Create an inclusive work environment with the intent to increase the level of engagement among a diverse workforce while identifying candidates that would complement the current staff.
Create a customized “business case” for Diversity.
Increase leadership in multicultural awareness and assess awareness gaps.
Increase organizational ownership of Diversity.
Assess and align Diversity-related programs with client’s customers and community.
Recruit change agents that will accelerate your Diversity strategy.
Led by Amani, we are able to assist companies in having potentially uncomfortable conversations about race and how to transition to a more accepting company.
Be well,
Steve
P.S. A couple of weeks ago I told the story of how I met Luke Wyckoff and his role in our firm. I failed to mention what a talented writer he is as evident in his latest blog.
