Z3Talent is pleased to announce the placement of Mindy Watrous as the new President and CEO of Tennyson Center for Children. Tennyson, a Colorado nonprofit, has been serving children and families who have experienced neglect, trauma, and abuse since 1904. Mindy will lean on her 30 years of experience working with vulnerable populations as she guides the organization forward.
“We were honored to be selected as Tennyson’s search partner at this critical time” said Steve Ziegler, Founder & Chief Talent Partner of Z3Talent. “Given Tennyson’s important role in the community and its committed staff, there was tremendous interest in the position despite its recent challenges. We are thrilled that the board selected Mindy, a stellar candidate, to lead their dedicated staff forward.”
Rebecca Franciscus, Tennyson Board Member and Search Committee Co-Chair, commented that “Our non-profit executive search team selected Z3 to find our next CEO based on their thoughtful, collaborative strategy for conducting an expeditious search. We were impressed with their experience, wisdom, professionalism, and the dedication of the search team. Z3 exceeded our high expectations, and we are thrilled with the results generated in record time by our Z3 team.”
Most recently, Mindy was hired to be the turn-around CEO for Roundup Fellowship, a local nonprofit serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. Prior to that, Mindy was the CEO for Special Olympics of Colorado for thirteen years. Earlier in her career, she was the Executive Director for Walden Family Services, a nationally recognized foster care, adoption and youth services agency. As a seasoned nonprofit leader, Mindy has exceled at programing, development, compliance, and financial stewardship.
“Tennyson Center for Children is an incredibly important organization whose work impacts the lives of thousands of children and families each year,” Ms. Watrous said. “Whether through traditional, preventative, therapeutic or education services, or innovative programs like Rewiring, Tennyson remains at the forefront of family-focused, child-centered care. Tennyson is forward thinking, always looking for ways to cultivate child and family wellbeing. I am thrilled to help lead this 117-year-old organization through its next chapter of service to the community.”
Mindy is personally committed to supporting vulnerable children. She began fostering children in her early twenties and now has five children from 19 months to 37 years old. Her passion and advocacy matched with her strong operational capabilities will be vital to help Tennyson achieve its mission to “keep families strong and keep them together”. She enjoys the challenges of helping organizations grow, heal, and effectively serve vulnerable populations.
